Right View and the Path to Understanding
Right View and the Path to Understanding
Right View begins with one simple truth:
There is suffering.
And from there, the rest of the path unfolds.
If our goal in meditation is just to stop thinking, or to stop feeling angry at the world, we’re not quite aligned with Right View.
Because we’re still resisting what is.
The first noble truth doesn’t say suffering is wrong.
It says suffering happens.
And only by accepting that nothing is permanent, nothing is self, and that clinging causes suffering, can we begin to align with the Eightfold Path.
Right View isn’t about ideas.
It’s about orientation.
We don’t follow the path to get rid of suffering.
We follow it to understand it.
And in understanding, the clinging lessens.
The grasping quiets.
The heart opens.
Right View leads to Right Effort, not through striving, but through clarity.
Not through fixing the world, but by seeing it as it is.
And in that seeing, compassion naturally arises.
Because suffering is no longer a problem—it’s a path.
